ABOUT KCMS - Board Members

David W. Whalen, MD - President
Doctor Whalen was born in Pontiac, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Toledo. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan specializing in Emergency Medicine, and works at St. Mary’s Health Care. Doctor Whalen has been a member of the Kent County Medical Society since 2007. He became a Director in 2008. He is also an Alternate Delegate to the Michigan State Medical Society House of Delegates.

Philip G. Wise, MD - President Elect
Doctor Wise was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and graduated from the University of Southern California where he also got his medical degree. He completed his internship and residency in General Surgery and Urology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Wise practices at Urologic Consultants, P.C. in Grand Rapids.
Doctor Wise has participated in a medical mission to Nigeria to vaccinate children against polio.

Donald Condit, MD, MBA - Treasurer
Dr. Condit is a Michigan native who graduated form the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan Medical School. Following an orthopaedic surgery residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, he became a hand surgery fellow at hte Indiana Hand Center, and a member of the clinical teaching faculty at Indian University. His sub speciality training in hand surgery covers all aspects of hand surgery, including microsurgery. He studied in Switzerland at several leading hand centers. Dr. Condit is an active lecturer and contributor in medical education. He continues to be active in legislative and Michigan state issues that affect the practice of medicine and patients, is active on the Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Committee and has served on the Board of Project Access, a program of the KCMS and KCOA.

Gregory J. Forzley, MD - Past President
Doctor Forzley has been elected Kent County Medical Society President-Elect for 2010. He has been a member of the Kent County Medical Society since 1982. He was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Doctor Forzley received his medical degree from Wayne State University Medical School in 1978. He did his Internship and Residency at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. He is Board Certified in Family Practice. Doctor Forzley is the Medical Director of Informatics for Saint Mary’s Health Care. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Michigan State Medical Society.

Jaime Caughran, MD
Dr. Caughran graduated from MSU-CHM, completed a General Surgery residency and has completed a breast fellowship at Beaumont Hospital. She is a member of the Association of Women Surgeons and the American Society of Breast surgeons. Dr. Caughran is the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Breast Cancer at The Lacks Cancer Center at Saint Mary’s Health Care. She joined the KCMS board in 2012.

Adriana S. Tanner, MD
Dr. Tanner graduated from the Universidad Militar Nueva Granada, in Bogota, Columbia. She completed her internship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington and Residencies at University of Kentucky and Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. In 2003 she completed a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Epilepsy. She currently serves as the Medical Director of the Epilepsy Center at Saint Mary's Healthcare in Grand Rapids, and serves as the Section Chief of Neurology. She joined the KCMS Board in 2011.
